This site is a collection of my thoughts. Throughout it, I try to sound extremely sage-like. Even wise! But the truth is, I’m just like you. I’m not a prophet and I have no reason to believe that any of my thoughts were divinely inspired. I’m just a very average person with some thoughts that have been rattling around inside my head for some (large number omitted) years. I feel strongly that somewhere in this blog there is or will be an important message - maybe something YOU have to say in response to my thoughts. So - just in case - add a comment.
You may be wondering how I arrived at this name ‘bottomlineredefined.com’ which of course is Bottom Line Redefined dot com. Well, I didn’t. I called my friend (and personal internet consultant) and asked for some suggestions for a great domain name. The best suggestion I got was this: “I have a domain name- bottomlineredefined.com - that I’m not using. Want it?” After a brief discussion, I learned that my friend originally intended to create a site to illuminate those businesses which were motivated purely by greed, to the detriment of the rest of us! Here is the original site description:
Bottom Line Redefined aims to help steer major corporations towards a more peaceful, inhabitable planet by informing consumers of those practices which help our environment, promote peaceful living and consider the well being of ALL of us, not just the bottom line of stock holders or the bonus potential of corporate officials. We will accomplish this by encouraging consumers to reward those companies which share these ideals and avoid those which focus on financial gain at the expense of the health, well being and quality of life of the rest of us.
The original intent was to use positive methods of persuading companies to change their practices by affecting their bottom line - if no one buys their products because of a particular way they choose to conduct business, then they will find it unprofitable to conduct business that way. The way that this idea complimented my site was scary. Synchronicity if you will. And the rest is history. I added this article to spotlight businesses which need to reconsider their business philosophy to create POSITIVE change in the world. Greed and disregard for fellow humans have dominated our planet long enough. But FIGHTING against them is not the answer. Teaching them right from wrong - the way one might teach a child - with love and understanding, will undoubtedly have a more profound, positive effect on everyone.
